My Background

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in professional writing and digital humanities from Michigan State University.  I have acquired a number of skills in writing, editing and design and I approach all of my work with a good understanding of SEO. My experiences range from writing for a wide range of audiences to connecting with them via social media marketing and other mediums, as well as researching and analyzing trends for digital projects and developing digital marketing strategies. 

Among all things, I consider myself a creative digital and technical communicator. As a creative digital and technical communicator, I value technologies, including new media, and the ways in which it's used. I approach digital and technical communication work by recognizing how my audience consumes and engages with content, and by looking at the role and importance of new media in an organization. 

For example, in her article "What do Technical Communicators Need to Know about New Media?" in Johnson-Eilola and Selber's book Solving Problems in Technical Communication, Anne Frances Wysocki talks about technical communicators as advocates for the rhetorical conditions in technical communication. She also expresses how important it is for technical communicators to not only be knowledgeable about the tools they are using, but also how effective those are for the organization in which they're working for. 

Indeed, I am well-rounded, both professionally and personally. I live for the outdoors, good laughs, positive people, traveling, hiking, family, friends, and my dogs. I've been 100% plant based July 2017. I'm vegan for the animals, the wildlife, the environment, my health, world hunger, and peace and compassion. I'm always seeking new adventures that will push me and teach me more about the world and myself.
